The 16th edition of the "Rendez-vous aux jardins" French programme series took place in 16 European countries throughout the first weekend of June in the framework of the European Year of Cultural Heritage. 2500 parks and gardens opened their doors to welcome 2 million visitors in Germany, Belgium, Croatia, Spain, Estonia, France, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Monaco, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland.

Among the 3,800 activities there were guided tours, conferences and workshops under the guidance of amateur or professional guides.

The Rendez-vous aux jardins provided a good opportunity for the wider public to understand the concept of plant circulation and the exchange of know-how on the topic across the continent. It also allowed to raise awareness about the art of gardens, especially for the young public.

In Hungary, in the framework of the Day of historical gardens an castle parks 12 sites participated with various programmes for students, families and professionals.
