In remembrance of Dora Pejačević Croatian-Hungarian composer, a Croatian-Hungarian concert will be held with Croatian conductor, Croatian and Hungarian pianist and Hungarian orchestra. In addition to the concert in both countries, lectures will be organized too to present the life and work of Dora Pejačević.
Dora Pejačević (1885-1923), daughter of a respectable Croatian Banus and Hungarian Countess, belonged to the Viennese cultural circle of Karl Kraus. She wrote solo songs on Nietzsche's verses, discussed philosophy and psychology, and in her short life she succeeded to write a great symphony and a concerto for piano and orchestra. Female composers have traditionally been neglected throughout history, so the performance of these significant works emphasized the European values of gender equality and women's rights to equal contribution to the culture of society.
The project would also introduce to the Hungarian cultural public, a for them unknown Hungarian composer, and would strengthen her importance for the Croatian cultural audience. At the same time, performances in both Hungary and Croatia will contribute to the cultural dialogue of these two countries.
