European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 –the yearly program launched in Hungary

„The greatest achievements and heroes of Hungarian culture have their well-deserved place among the most important achievements of European culture,” said Tibor Navracsics, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport at the opening event of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 on 22nd January in Budapest, on the Day of Hungarian Culture.

„There is neither Europe nor European culture without the cultures of the different nations” he added, and pointed out that Hungary is recognised as a "cultural superpower" all over Europe and the world.

Deputy Minister Nándor Csepreghy, László Lovász, President of the Hungarian Academy of Science, and György Vashegyi, President of the Hungarian Academy of Art were also present at the illustrious event at the ceremonial hall of the Hungarian Academy of Science. The series of cultural events in the framework of the Thematic Year are being coordinated by the Prime Minister’s Office in cooperation with the Ministry of Human Capacities in Hungary.
