Programmes of Szent István University Faculty of Landscape Architecture and Urbanism in the European Year of Cultural Heritage

The Szent István University, Faculty of Landscape Architecture and Urbanism is organising several programmes in the European Year of Cultural Heritage, including conferences, exhibitions, workshops and research programmes in order to present and develop our garden heritage.

Conferences: 

Heritage and Green infrastructure - international conference/workshop (April 23-24, 2018)

The main aim of the conference is to point out and to open up specific topics in order to enhance the scientific cooperation between the participants in the field of landscape heritage protection and renewal. Invited strategic partners: East China Normal University, School of Design, Shanghai, TONGJI University, CAUP, Shanghai, University of Buenos Aires Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urbanism/School of Agriculture, IES College of Architecture, Mumbai, IFLA Europe.

World Landscape Heritage – international conference (April 25, 2018)

The main aim of the conference is to point out and to open up specific topics in order to enhance the scientific cooperation between the participants in the field of landscape heritage protection and renewal. Exhibitions:

Diploma Exhibition 2018 (February 14 - March 30, 2018)

The  Szent István University, Faculty of Landscape Architecture and Urbanism organise yearly Diploma Exhibition in order to present an overview of the master diploma thesis  works. The exhibition presents an outstanding ‘landscape heritage’ section.

Heritage based townscape development in Törökbálint – student workshop and exhibition (March 20 - May 12, 2018)

The  Szent István University, Faculty of Landscape Architecture and Urbanism organise a streetscape and townscape renewal workshop, involving Hungarian and Egyptian landscape architecture students. The results will be presented through an open exhibition.

Enhancement programmes, workshops:

Enhancement program of historic village centre of Ipolytölgyes (February - June, 2018)

With the collaboration of students and lecturers of Szent István University and University of Technology (Budapest), we are preparing a value-based environment renewal plan and workshop for the village centre of Ipolytölgyes community.

Conservation management and maintenance of historic sites in Noszvaj (February - April, 2018)

With the collaboration of students and lecturers of Szent István University, we would like organize a field practice in order to participate in the management and maintenance work of the historic park of De la Motte castle and the historical cemetery of the village. In addition we will also meet with the actors, special aspects and tasks of the management.

Analysis and concept creation of the historical town core of Tihany and the landscape heritage of National Park (March, 2018)

Through a workshop by the collaboration of the students and lecturers of Szent István University (Budapest), will be realized the concept of the historical town core of Tihany and the presentation area of the National Park.

Tihany is the most protected landscape and the top ranked monumental location from the Balaton region. The main goal of the workshop is to make student familiarized with the local planning tasks, and with the method of analysis and the evaluation. The local council and the national park will gain new ideas from the students work. The workshop will be closed with a presentation, the hosts will recieve the results of the work in a form of a documentation.

Kalotaszeg Cultural Landscape – international student workshop (16-20 April, 3-7 May, 2018)

The  Szent István University, Faculty of Landscape Architecture and Urbanism is organising a workshop related to the subject of Design of Historic landscapes and Sites involving Hungarian and Foreign landscape architecture students (from 12 countries), and guest professors from India, Argentina and Poland.

Garden revitalisation of the court of Balogh-Esterházy manor-house in Billegpuszta (June 2018)

With the collaboration of students and lecturers of Szent István University, we would like organize a field workshop in order to prepare landscape conception plan for the court of the Balogh-Esterházy manor-house in Billegpuszta near Naszály.

Enhancement program and garden design plan of a historic public park (Déry-kert) in Baja (autumn of 2018)

With the collaboration of students and lecturers of Szent István University, we would like organize a field workshop in order to develop a value-based open space design plan and management plan of the historical public park (Déry-garden), which is managed by the municipality of Baja.

Inventorization of historic gardens in Hungary (Komárom-Esztergom county) (autumn of 2018)

With the collaboration of students and lecturers of Szent István University, we would like to continue our inventorization work (surveys, researches) started in 2017. This year we are willing to finish our work with the sites in Komárom-Esztergom county.
