Programmes of the European Heritage Alliance 3.3 in the European Year of Cultural Heritage

The European Heritage Alliance 3.3 is an informal European sectoral platform composed of 48 European or international networks and organisations active in the wider field of cultural heritage. The Alliance organises several programmes during the European Year of Cultural Heritage.

Dialogue among cultures: Europe and the Mediterranean

Palermo, 2-4 March, 2018
A week-long festival on dialogue among cultures with focus on the relation between European and Mediterranean / Middle Eastern cultures will be organized by the Italian city of Palermo. During the event, European policies for culture as an instrument for development, integration and sustainability and for the human right to mobility will be debated and various cultural programmes will be held in the name of multiculturalism.

Ringing bells across Europe for the International Day of Peace

In 2018, we remember the end of World War I a century ago, the start of the Thirty Years’ War in 1618 and its end in 1648, in order not to forget how precious peace is for us all. The sound of bells, wherever it is heard, aptly expresses what we want to call to mind during the European Year of Culture 2018 and pass on to our children: the values of solidarity and peace, and our cultural heritage in Europe and for the world.

Events organised by the European Historic Houses Association

The aim of the programmes organised by the European Historic Houses Association present the historic houses to the wider public and promote public engagement, especially the young generation.

March - October, 2018
The programme of the European Federation of Associations of Industrial and Technical Heritage (E-FAITH) includes theme months from March until October by promoting cooperation and offering a framework for action for the civil society.

ECTN Awards for Destination of Sustainable Cultural Tourism

The Award Contest is organised since 2014 by the European Cultural Tourism Network around annual themes for the benefit of destinations, communities, businesses, citizens and visitors. In the framework of the EYCH, this year's theme will be "Cultural Heritage as an Asset for Responsible and Sustainable Tourism".

Day of Historical gardens and parks in June

June 1-3, 2018
Inspired by the "Rendez-vous aux jardins", developed in France since 2003, in 2018 the programme will be extended into a pan-European event combining activities in other interested European countries. For that occasion, the Day of Historical gardens and parks will be organised on the first weekend of June in Hungary too.

Urban Jewish Heritage: Presence and Absence

The Foundation for Jewish Heritage will hold a conference titled "Urban Jewish Heritage - Presence and Absence", between 3-7 September 2018 in Krakow. The event is organized in the light of the European Year of Cultural Heritage.

Meeting and international conference about Modernist architectural heritage in Kaunas

The Ministry of Culture of Lithuania, in cooperation with the Kaunas City Municipality and the State Commission for Cultural Heritage of Lithuania, is organising a Meeting “Modern Movement in architecture - an asset to cultural heritage: a Central-Eastern European perspective” and an international conference "Modernism for the Future" in the framework of EYCH.

The FRH Torch Initiative

Inspired by the Olympic Torch of Athens, in the framework of the European Year of Cultural Heritage the “Torch of Heritage and Culture” will travel around Europe collecting personal letters from prominent members of the international community but also from European citizens themselves.

The conference organised by the Cultural Heritage Agency in the Netherlands will offer an international exchange of best practices of participatory governance in the field of cultural heritage. It will present real-life projects by speakers with first-hand experiences and coming from different backgrounds.

The Centre for English, Translation and Anglo-Portuguese Studies (CETAPS), at FCSH-NOVA University of Lisbon, and at the University of Oporto, the European Studies Programme, University of Guelph (Canada), the Museum of Contemporary Art (Chiado, Lisbon), and the Área de Filologías Gallega y Portuguesa / Universidad de Extremadura (Spain) will join the celebration(s) of European Year of Cultural Heritage in Portugal through an international conference to discuss literature as/and (in)tangible heritage(s).
