On the occasion of the European Year of Cultural Heritage, Magyar Posta is issuing a promotional definitive domestic no value indication stamp along with occasional envelopes with the label of the Year. The products are going on sale from 1 August, 2018.
The 9th V4 World Heritage Academy organised by the Polish International Centre for Culture took place between 9-15th July in the cities of Krakow, Wroclaw and Swidnica. During the one-week programme the participants had the opportunity to take part in several lectures, site visits and workshops on World Heritage management.
As part of the industrial heritage campaign of the European Year of Cultural Heritage, EFAITH (European Federation of Associations of Industrial and Technical Heritage) has defined six theme months. The Federation has launched a summer campaign on the European heritage of transport and travel for July and August.
On 22nd June, on the occasion of the first ever European Cultural Heritage Summit, one of the highlighted events of the European Year of Cultural Heritage, held in the Berlin, the European Commission has released a set of interactive maps which will help to raise awareness of cultural heritage in Europe.
To make sure that the efforts of EYCH leave an imprint beyond 2018, the European Commission, in collaboration with the Council of Europe, UNESCO, and other partners, will run long-term projects around 10 themes. The objective is to help trigger real change in the way we enjoy, protect and promote heritage, making sure that the European Year benefits citizens in the longer term.
The 16th edition of the "Rendez-vous aux jardins" French programme series took place in 16 European countries throughout the first weekend of June in the framework of the European Year of Cultural Heritage. 2500 parks and gardens opened their doors to welcome 2 million visitors in Germany, Belgium, Croatia, Spain, Estonia, France, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Monaco, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland.
For the next long-term EU budget 2021-2027, the European Commission is proposing to increase funding for Creative Europe, the programme supporting European cultural and creative sectors and audiovisual works, to €1.85 billion.
The Call for European Heritage Stories launched by the European Commission in the framework of the European Year of Cultural Heritage is a pilot initiative intending to identify the European Dimension of heritage sites and heritage work undertaken by the communities in Europe.
As part of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018, the factory chimneys will be placed centrally in the campaign for industrial heritage during the month of May by EFAITH, the European Federation of Associations of Industrial and Technical Heritage.
